My name is Girturde Sokolewicz and I'm a 60 year old retiree that volunteers at the SPCA. Over the years, I've been supportive of animal rights and have been involved in many efforts to prevent cruelty to animals. That's why when I opened up my mailbox one morning, I was utterly disgusted to find a dead hamster lying in there. There was a note attached saying "Bob was a hamster." And that's not even the end of it! This foul prank has continued with other dead animals like a lizard, with an attached note denouncing the insurance company, Geico. Other animals included a pigeon, fish, and various bugs also coming with childish notes like "Killing Nemo" and "Snug as a Bug in a Mailbox"
I went to the Police, but they put it off as something that will pass, yet it hasn't. I haven’t filed a police report and I don’t intend to. I just want the public to know about these cruel occurrences. Hopefully, it can discourage any future pranks involving the lives of innocent animals. As an animal rights activist, I feel it’s important to let the public know about the filth present in my mailbox every morning. I want the public to know that animal activists aren’t the crazy fools. It is the anti-animal activists, those are the ones worth scrutiny.
